Lexus engineers are busy at the Nurburgring as they are testing a camouflaged RC F prototype. As we can notice from the photos, the changes are only subtle which indicates that this might be only a prototype for a facelifted model. It will be interesting to see what will be the final version of the facelifted rear-wheel-drive luxury performance coupe.
Some of the new parts are the front lip spoiler, modified front intakes and rear bumper diffuser insert. The entire RC range, together with the RC F model debuted for 2015, so this update for 2019 MY appears to be the mid-cycle refresh.
Rumor has it that Lexus might be in the first phase of developing an even hotter version of the car. This new and more handsome variant might be the reference to the brand’s Gazoo Racing motorsport department.
The ongoing RC F is a sporty cruiser with a solid performance. Even though the vehicle is heavy, with the curb weight being 3,958 pounds, this one doesn’t feel sluggish on the road. The only model in this market segment which weighs more than the Lexus RC F is the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe, but the difference between the two models is that the German car produces much more torque.
The current RC F gets power from a 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 467 ponies and 389 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the C63 Coupe in standard form generates 469 hp and 479 lb-ft or 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque in the C63 S version.
