We’ve recently written an article on the new Wrangler and if you remember we also said how we spotted the new Cherokee. Well, here it is, in all its glory, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee!
It is common knowledge that this vehicle has been heading towards its middle age for some time now and just like its contemporaries it got a facelift. Finally, we have a proper looking Cherokee to look forward to.
We’ve spotted this beast alongside a few of Wranglers in Colorado and as you can see the new model now looks refreshed and more modern. Some claim that the company finally listened to its customers and eliminated those ‘controversial’ styling cues that were pretty much traditional for this SUV.
Even though these shots show nothing special and the car itself has been camouflaged, numerous reports state that the new Cherokee will have a completely new front fascia with a reworked grille and redesigned headlights. We should also expect the crossover’s headlights to get a new fresh look instead of being distinctively split. Some rumors claim that the headlights will look similar to ones found on the rest of the Jeep lineup.
The vehicle is heavily camouflaged on the back, and we believe that the company tried to hide the new tailgate. We also speculate that they worked on a new rear bumper beside the tailgate. That could be the reason behind the heavy camouflage. Unfortunately, we can’t say if that is 100 percent true since we heard nothing official from the company.
Under the hood, we expect a carryover. That means a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine packing 184 hp (137 kW) and 171 lb-ft (234 Nm) of torque. We should also be in store for a 3.2-liter V6 that delivers 271 hp (199 kW) and 239 lb-ft (316 Nm) of torque. There have been some speculations about the possible new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit and how it would be sourced from the 2018 Wrangler, but those remain rumors only. We’ll have to wait for Jeep to release an official statement.
