When the Hyundai Veloster was introduced in 2011, it was delivered instead of the Tiburon in the US. The Veloster comes in a three-door form only, and now you can purchase it in the entry-level and Turbo trim while this model will be redesigned fully for 2018. Hyundai used a series of concept cars in order to preview the high-performance Veloster, which is going to feature a lot of new technologies, sporty design and improved engine range.
2019 Hyundai Veloster N Release Date
Veloster N is just a prototype at the moment, but rumor has it that it will make an official debut by the end of this year. Furthermore, the model shares its platform with the i30 N which is not going to be offered in the US.
Exterior
Despite heavy camouflage, we can clearly see some details which differentiate this model from the standard one. At the front, a splitter at the bottom end of the bumper is easy to notice, whereas there are also larger side vents. In addition, Hyundai uses different and more aggressive front grille for the Veloster N which comes in a honeycomb pattern, a feature characteristic for high-performance cars.
The vehicle sits on the sporty, five-spoke wheels which are wrapped in competition-like tires, while lowered ride height is obvious when you look at the car from the sides. Camouflage stops us from telling you more about the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N, but those covers on the rear fenders indicate that there might be large vents like the ones seen on the concept.
At the back, we can see large tailpipes which confirm that this is the Veloster N model we are talking about, but there is also a bigger wing at the top of the tailgate that is going to improve aerodynamics and stability of the vehicle, especially at high speeds.
Interior
There are no spy photos of the Veloster N’s cabin so we can only take a guess. One thing is for sure – the interior of the sportier version will be slightly upgraded compared to the regular Veloster’s cabin. We expect a more modern, crisp design whereas the infotainment that comes with a larger display will be updated. Also, a redesigned steering wheel is expected together with a digital instrument cluster.
Bespoke screens for infotainment system and instrument cluster are likely while the passengers will sit in the race-inspired front seats. The South Korean carmaker will offer authentic upholstery options, a set of sports pedals and various “N” badges around the interior.
Engines
Nothing is official when we talk about the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N. We have already mentioned that this version will have the same platform as the i30 N which means that a 2.0-lite turbocharged I4 will be included. This engine will generate around 240 hp, but with the optional performance pack, you can increase the output to 280 hp. The unit will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, but especially for the US market, Hyundai is expected to offer a dual-clutch gearbox.
When it comes to the performance figures, the new Veloster N will be able to reach 60 mph in less than six seconds, which is an easy task for 240 hp and a proper transmission. The range-topper will be able to reduce the acceleration speed to less than 5.5 seconds.
Pricing of 2019 Hyundai Veloster N
Since the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N is still in the development, it is too early to talk about $. However, this one will definitely be the least affordable vehicle in the lineup, but Hyundai will try to make it less expensive than the rivals. This means that Volkswagen Golf GTI and Focus ST will be more expensive than the competitor from Hyundai. The Veloster N will be slotted between $22,000 and $24,000 without any additional options, but installing the performance pack could increase the price to about $30,000.
