The prototypes of the new Hyundai’s Veloster are seen on the streets conducting various tests. The new model is going to have the same shape as the ongoing version with some minor differences. The authentic three-doors-and-hatch-configuration returns and for those who don’t know this, the Veloster will have a single door on the driver’s side and two on the passenger side.
An exhaust pipe is located in the center of the rear bumper, which is yet another design characteristic that can be found on the current car. The exterior will mostly remain the same, as it seems so far, but luckily, there are spy shots which clearly show the cabin of the Veloster. Good news – the interior will be upgraded significantly.
Based on some test mules spotted earlier, we expect the 2019 Hyundai Veloster to come with a longer wheelbase than the one on the ongoing version of the car, resulting in more space inside the cabin. Furthermore, the new vehicle appears to be much sportier, mostly due to a lower profile.
Under the hood, Hyundai engineers will probably use a version of the 1.6-liter turbocharged I4 as the base engine. This powerplant generates 201 horsepower, but if you want something more potent, a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4, which made its debut in the Hyundai i30 N sold overseas, is going to be offered. The complete output of this unit is 246 hp in its tamest setting, while it can reach 271 hp.
Unfortunately, the Hyundai i30 N is not going to be sold in the United States, but a Veloster N model is coming. The South Korean company is testing prototypes of this car at the moment, and we cannot wait to welcome it on our market. Meanwhile, the modified Veloster will be introduced in late 2017 or early 2018. The new car arrives as a 2019 model with the sales starting probably in late 2018. The standard Veloster will be followed by the hotter Hyundai Veloster N.
