The two models that we are all waiting for are the 2020 Ford Bronco and the 2019 Ford Ranger. After so many rumors and speculations about the return of these two vehicles to the USA, the company has finally confirmed this news earlier this year. The first spy photos of the Ranger have been seen, and it is obvious that Blue Oval has already started with the development of the truck for the US market.
The 2019 Ford Ranger will be introduced sometime next year, and you can see in the images what it might look like. Although it will be about the same size as the current one sold across the pond, its body will be significantly revamped. The F-150 was refreshed last month, and it will serve as an inspiration for the new Ranger, which is nothing strange or unexpected. The face of the F-150 will be adapted to the smaller pickup, and it really looks cool.
Joe Hinrich, Ford’s President of the Americas, said that the new Ranger is going to be “an affordable, functional, rugged and maneuverable pickup that’s Built Ford Tough.” What this means is that this vehicle will be a body-on-frame truck and both RWD and 4WD will be available. The new Ranger and the new Bronco will be based on the slightly redesigned version of the T6 platform.
In Europe, the Ford Ranger is only available with diesel units, but for the US market, a naturally-aspirated V6 and an EcoBoost 4-cylinder will be added to the range. These two new engines will probably be offered for the Americans only, while a new five-cylinder diesel might be offered in other world markets as well. These units will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission which will according to Ford have “better mpg than the F-150.”
Rumor has it that the 2019 Ford Ranger is being developed at the company’s Asia-Pacific Engineering Center in Victoria, Australia, but the production will move to Wayne, Michigan. Stay tuned for more details.
