Thanks to Ford’s annual shareholders’ meeting, that was held earlier today we managed to find out some goodies regarding company’s new and upcoming models. Unfortunately we can’t let you have the footage from the event, but hopefully, you will have those at your disposal sometime tomorrow during the day. The meeting was very intriguing because there was a mention of a few topics that interested us, and we presume you as well.

One of those topics is a question that that one of the shareholders asked, and it regards the new 2019 Ford Ranger and whether it would ride on a new platform and if it will be car-based. The CEO, Mark Fields, responded by confirming the truck will be based on the existing platform which is already offered overseas and noted that it will be a body-on-frame vehicle.

Of course that this isn’t a big of a surprise mainly because doing things this way ensure that production costs stay low plus the company has previously already hinted that the “Ranger is for truck buyers who want an affordable, functional, rugged, and maneuverable pickup that’s Built Ford Tough.” But the same thing will also ensure that Ranger stays dominant with the competition like the Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, and Nissan Frontier rather than the Honda Ridgeline.

There was also a mention of the company’s upcoming electric crossover which is said to be a “small” SUV, at least that is what Fields confirmed. They, unfortunately, didn’t disclose much more but as we managed to find out, it will have a range in excess of 300 miles (482 km) on a single charge, which is a very good start allowing it to be quite competitive with other models in the segment.

My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
