Ford came up with a big announcement at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show when they said that the Ranger and Ford Bronco are coming back in the USA in 2019 and 2024 respectively. However, little do we know about the new Ranger and what it will look like, what engine it will use and how much power those units will produce. The Australian Ford Ranger has been imported to the US, and it may hint how the new 2019 Ford Ranger will look like.
The first thing that comes to our mind when we see the Ranger from Australia is that it resembles the Chevy Colorado and even the Toyota Tacoma. Moreover, this Ranger looks too much like a truck, but that can be adjusted for the US market without any problems. And according to earlier reports new model will come with unique looks.
This Ford Ranger comes with a 3.2-liter diesel engine, and since it arrived from Australia, it is a right-hand drive 4×4 model. The interior boasts space, and there is no doubt that the passengers are comfortable inside, while all the most important features and controls are within driver’s reach.
Although this one is a diesel-powered version, we are not sure whether the diesel engine will be under the hood of the American Ranger. Considering that the Colorado is the only midsize vehicle that comes with this type of powerplant, adding another one to the market would not be a bad idea. What we expect is that the Blue Oval continues with their EcoBoost engines, so at least one Ranger will probably sport an EcoBoost.
Of course, we assume that some adjustments for the US market will come, but there is no reason why Ford wouldn’t use the same platform as we can see on this model. Hopefully, Ford will release some details about the 2019 Ford Ranger soon, so stay tuned for more info.
