As the time goes by both automakers and spy photographers become smarter when it comes to hiding/catching the things that shouldn’t be seen before the time is right. The images we have here prove that the new tactic that Chevy is employing on hiding their mid-cycle refreshed Camaro is to slap on the biggest false front end you have lying around and hope for the best.
What you have here before you is a whole bunch of Camaros caught testing in Colorado and all of them have these elongated false noses with a bunch of holes in them for air and lights. What these make you think instantly is that Chevy could be working on a unique, extra-aerodynamic limited-edition Camaro, but the harsh reality is that this is just an illusion. What hides behind this “Pinocchio” nose is probably the same front fascia, albeit slightly updated and refreshed, that keeps the same retro look of the vehicle as the one on current gen does. As you can see, the tactic from Chevy is paying off because it’s hard to conclude and define any lines beneath so for the first time we are unable to at least hint you what to expect.
The rear end of the vehicle seems identical which is probably the reason the company decided to just put the camo wrap on it. A little closer inspection reveals that there are changes to the areas just below the taillights which now come without the current car’s extra character lines, and gives off a lot simpler and cleaner look. As you can see, there are some changes to the taillights which apparently now offer different illumination patterns.
All of these changes are expected on the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro which the company should reveal sometime early or mid 2018, but you really shouldn’t expect many differences in the mechanical department except a possible increase in power or maybe the introduction of the 10-speed automatic found in the ZL1.
