Audi is going to introduce the new A6 model which is supposed to hit the market in 2019. This Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series rival is in the test phase, and we can say that based on spy photos, this vehicle is going to be slightly bigger than the previous model. Furthermore, the upcoming Audi A6 will use the same platform which will underpin the new Audi A8, plus, a better fuel efficiency is expected.
Design
The 2019 Audi A6 will differ from any other model in the range because its design will be similar to the one of the Prologue Concept. The prototype that was caught on camera indicates that the production version is going to sport a vast hexagonal grille flanked by angular headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.
Even though there are no photos of the car’s rear end, we can safely say that it will also be like the one on the Prologue concept. The 2019 model will, of course, have similarities with the ongoing version of the A6, but we expect a roomier cabin and larger trunk.
Audi A6 2019 Interior
Just like the exterior, the interior is going to follow the Prologue concept looks, so we will see a broad dashboard with a small number of buttons together with the next-gen of the company’s Virtual Cockpit system. In other words, traditional instruments will be replaced by a big digital dashboard.
Moreover, because of the new platform, the new 2019 Audi A6 will sport a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs, which will increase the interior space, without significantly increasing the size of the entire vehicle. Both front and rear passengers will feel more comfortable due to extra headroom and legroom, and they will also be able to pack more luggage into the trunk.
If you want a more practical A6, there is a new Avant available. This version arrives shortly after the new saloon.
Engine
The new platform will be made of carbon-fiber and aluminum instead of the conventional steel which will help the A6 shed some weight. This affects efficiency and driving experience in a positive way. The economical 2.0-liter diesel engine will satisfy the needs of most of the buyers, but if you are looking for something more powerful, the German carmaker will offer the S6 models with either a 3.0-liter V6 or a 4.0-liter V8 petrol unit. After the Audi A6 is launched, we expect to see a teased RS6 version which might come with a twin-turbo V8 engine that also powers the latest Porsche Panamera.
