Toyota Yaris has always been a very simple car meant for people who keep it simple and like affordable vehicle. If you are one of those people, then this is pretty much the best choice. The Yaris we have here for you today has arrived at NY Auto Show and sports some exterior upgrades for its 2018 MY. When it comes to this model you have to keep in mind that it has always been a sort of vehicle you love or hate, there is no middle ground. You will be able to find the updated 2018 Yaris at the company’s stand right beside the restyled Sienna minivan.
Toyota Yaris Exterior
As far as those updates are considered, from the front, you will notice that Yaris has dropped some of those pieces of the grille that connected the headlamps and now has a body color trim atop the open lower black grille. There is also a sweeping headlamp assembly and a pointed nose that kind off gives this Yaris an angry whale look, but that might be just me. The rear end is slightly better but not that much because at the back you also have restyled rear segment and hatch in order to mimic the open mouth from the front end. Changes to this MY will also bring you redesigned taillights that now fit nicely into the layout. This update was supposed to introduce some aggression and sportiness to the small Yaris, but it seems that somehow it just isn’t there.
2018 Toyota Yaris Interior
Interior is singing a bit different tune, especially with the instrument cluster that was previously exclusive to the SE trim, but now is available on all Yaris models. If you remember the look of the dash in question than you know that this means three gauges for monitoring speed, engine RPM, and fuel which are there for the driver full-time. The LCD screen with the gauges will provide additional information to the driver, while in L and LE models you will additionally receive a 6-inch touchscreen display for infotainment needs, while the SE trim will have a larger 7-inch one, but sadly none of those offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Engine
Since this is a compact entry level car do not expect much from its engine lineup, meaning you will have to settle wit a 1.5 L four-cylinder unit capable of delivering modest 106 HP that are sent to the front wheels through the five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Besides all of this, the 2018 Yaris will also be able to brag with a version of Toyota’s Safety Sense Suite that will offer you aids like the pre-collision system and lane-departure alert.

Toyota, unfortunately, isn’t saying anything about the price they will ask for the updated Yaris but we think that it will most likely start in the $15,000 range when it hits the market later this year.
