The Toyota RAV4 is a good representative of the compact SUV class, but there are so many RAV’s out there that it is sometimes hard to tell which is which. Now, Japanese manufacturer has assembled a specially upgraded trim level called the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure that has just appeared in Chicago together with the updated Sequoia and Tundra. These two models received performance-themed bits and pieces from Toyota Racing Development, whereas the new RAV4 Adventure is focused on utility, practicality, capability and ruggedness.
Visual Aspect
When it comes to the exterior, the Toyota RAV4 Adventure is rather specific, and for example, the rear fenders are flared out, while the vehicle sits on 18-inch alloy wheels with a five-spoke design and black finishing touches. They are wrapped in 235/55R18 tires whereas the edges of the model have body protection parts. Around the fog lights are dark pieces, while the dark headlight bezels are also visible, and if you opt for the Adventure trim, you will get roof racks which are standard whereas a long matte-black stripe is located on the hood. I don’t think we even need to mention the Adventure special edition badges. This vehicle is available in Black, Silver Sky Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Super White and Ruby Flare Pearl.
The Cabin
The 208 Toyota RAV4 Adventure is equipped with exclusive trim panels, a leather-clad shift knob and a 120-volt/100-watt power outlet, which is placed in the cargo area. Furthermore, there are door sill kick plates, all-weather floor mats, which just like the kick plates have the Adventure badging.
Features
When people buy a family car, they sometimes look at a sport aspect of that vehicle. There is the Adventure package that brings sportiness which may not matter in the forests, but it can definitely make the new RAV4 look more appealing. Just like the standard version, the RAV4 Adventure can be purchased with FWD and AWD. The former includes an Automatic Limited-Slip Differential, whereas the second comes with Dynamic Torque Control technology. Both of these configurations are offered with the Tow Prep Package which updates the radiator, adds oil and transmission fluid coolers, while it raises the ride height.
In addition, Toyota offers the standard Trailer Sway Control, Hill-Start Assist Control and TSS-P safety tech suit. The last one comes with features such as automatic forward braking, brake assist, pedestrian detection, steering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams and lane departure warning. Some of the additional upgrades which have come for the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure are optional heated and fabric-covered front row seating, a heated steering wheel and a wiper de-icer feature and these are grouped in what is called the Cold Weather Package, which is brand new.
Under the Hood
The 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure sports a 2.5-liter I4 engine which delivers 176 hp at 6,000 rpm and 172 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. The unit is connected to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure Price & Release Date
The new RAV4 model really looks nice, but it would have been better if Toyota had decided to install more equipment in order to improve the vehicle’s capability and practicality. For example, all-season tires would be great, just like stain and dirt resistant upholstery. Or, they could have added a roof-mounted light bar or an exterior-mounted gas can. Not all of this, but it would be nice to see some of this features on the Adventure trim because it would make the car even more unique. However, all of these things are, of course, far more expensive than badging and a dark finish for the wheels.
The 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure is expected to go on sale in September this year. The pricing details remain unknown, but as soon as we find out, we will let you know, so stay tuned for more information.
