Toyota decided to use some of the good old free advertising by releasing few images of the new 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and make a very bold use of the holy word “leaked” to draw attention to the vehicle in question. But we shouldn’t hold that against them it is a normal thing for automakers to do that and why wouldn’t they? We get to see something new before it becomes apparent to everyone and they get a chance to raise the hype about their product. See, it is a sure Win-Win situation for everyone!
Design
To those who do not know already, the Prado is basically a smaller Land Cruiser, and it has now been redesigned using a lot bolder design elements and lines. The start of that new design approach can be seen on the vehicle’s front on the new headlamps that feature bold creases that connect directly to an oversized grille. There is something new about the front bumper as well, and now it looks like something seen on the both Lexus and the latest Hilux. If you take a look at the vehicle you will notice that nearly every panel on it has been redone (well all besides the mirrors, they look the same), that is why Toyota could easily call this one an all-new Prado. At the vehicle’s back, you can see some 3D taillights, refreshed fog lamps, restyled bumper and a revised tailgate. You can have it both with a spare wheel mounted on the back or without it.
2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Interior
As far as the interior is concerned from the “leaked” images, we can see leather, a new 8.0-inch satellite navigation system, a more modern steering wheel, and radio controls. We also found out that the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will benefit from Toyota Safety Sense P which includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Pedestrian Detection.
As far as the powertrains are considered, it is normal that the options change with the market, so that is why the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will come with gasoline units which include the 2TR-FE 2.7 L four cylinder, 7GR-FKS 3.5 L V6, and 1GR-FE 4.0 L V6 units. As far as diesel units go, the ones that are currently offered globally are the 1GD-FTV 2.8 L, 1KD-FTV 3.0 L, and 5L-E 3.0 L all being four cylinder units. There are some talks that there could be a new transmission with more cogs on the way, but that is still uncertain.
