This next-gen beauty runs on a completely new engine that can allegedly produce 1,000 horsepower.

According to the company, the latest Shelby track car features a 5.2-liter V8 engine, a 4.5-liter Whipple supercharger, a 90-degree crank and modified GT350 cylinder heads. Wow, right?

‘From the first Cobra in 1962 to this latest Shelby super car, Shelby American continues to push the performance envelope,’ stated Gary Patterson, Shelby American president. ‘The new Shelby 1000 demonstrates our commitment to leading American performance from the highways to the track and trails. Second place is first loser, and we intend to stay out front,’ he exclaimed.

Even though technically the 2018 Shelby 100 delivers 200 horsepower less than its predecessor, folks at Ford stated that performance isn’t completely reliant on horsepower and horsepower only. The upcoming track car has almost all major components replaced in order to ensure the best possible performance on the track.

A new front fascia, hood, front rockers and fenders along with new coil-over suspension, custom bodywork, Brembo brakes and harder and wider wheels is what we were promised by Ford when it comes to the 2018 Shelby 1000. They also took praised the new chassis and independent back and front suspension.

When you combine all of these traits, the 2018 Shelby 1000 produces a completely different kind of muscle performance compared to its predecessor. Contrary to the 2012-2014 Shelby 1000, it is designed as a track-only car and unfortunately we won’t see a street legal version that would be available to average consumers.
