The 2018 Mitsubishi ASX has been upgraded, and the prices and specs for the new model have been officially announced for the Australian market. The new ASX range is going to bring new driver assistance systems as well as a better infotainment system with modified design both inside and out.
The new features have become available including the autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning and automatic high beam. This equipment will not be available for the lesser trims but expect it in the mid-spec version – the LS ADAS – which will be priced at $28,500. Furthermore, the range-topping XLS is also going to receive new technology, and the starting price of this model is set to $32,000.
The entire lineup will be granted with the Mitsubishi’s newest infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Also, the new DAB digital radio will be offered, but there will no longer be native satellite navigation in the XLS trim. Expect a new center console inside the cabin with two USB ports and a mobile phone tray.
When it comes to the design of the car, the 2018 Mitsubishi ASX is going to be equipped with the new front and rear bumpers, LED DRLs, updated cabin and a newly-designed gearshift for the automatic versions. New acoustic absorption materials have been installed as well, reducing the noise inside the car.
The base trim, ASX LS, which will cost $25,000 comes with all the updates mentioned above, including the new infotainment system. It will sit on the 18-inch alloy wheels, whereas rear-view camera and sensors, together with cruise control, are standard. The entry-level will be powered by 2.0-liter aspirated petrol good for 110kW and 197 Nm of torque, but you can also select the 2.2-liter turbo diesel rated at 110kW and 360 Nm of torque. The petrol variant comes with the FWD only, and you can choose between a five-speed manual and the CVT, whereas the diesel sends its power through a six-speed automatic to all four wheels. The starting price of the AWD diesel LS is $32,500.
The 2018 Mitsubishi ASX LS ADAS sits in the middle, and it is available exclusively with the petrol two-wheel drive CVT configuration. Besides the features mentioned earlier, the new mid-level model will add an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror, automatic wipers, and automatic headlights. Last but not least is the XLS version which brings a panoramic glass roof with LED mood lighting, leather and heated front seats and keyless entry and push-button start. The top dog can be purchased in both petrol FWD and diesel AWD guises.
