Mercedes-Benz is set to show to the broad audience its all-new 2018 E-Class Cabriolet, and they have decided to do so at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show scheduled for March. The Cabriolet is going to complete the E-Class family that already consists of the sedan, estate, coupe, All-Terrain and the long wheelbase saloon prepared for the Chinese market only. The latest addition will basically look the same as the two-door variant of the E-Class minus the roof, of course.
The predictions regarding the engine lineup are that the Cabriolet will most likely adopt that as well from the two-door coupe. That means that you will have a 2.0 L four-cylinder diesel capable of producing 191 horsepower, a 2.0 L turbo petrol with 181 HP and 242 HP, and a twin-turbo V6 petrol that is rated at 328 HP at your disposal. Not bad, especially when you know that the more potent AMG E50 and AMG E63 S Cabriolet will follow sometime later down the road.
A few more vehicles will join the E-Class Cabriolet spotlight in Geneva, and one of them is a “highly unusual variant of the legendary off-road icon, the G-Class” or the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, on which we reported a few days ago. It is created by the Maybach division, and it will be made in only 99 units that will offer you a 6.0-liter V12 engine that can churn out 630 HP and 738 lb-ft of torque. Another one that will be introduced besides these two is the facelifted GLA that now has slightly modified front and rear end. The company will most likely showcase the 220 4Matic rookie, that has 184 HP and 221 lb-ft of torque, and the range-topping AMG 45 4Matic with 2.0 L petrol unit that can deliver 381 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque.
Mercedes’ parent company, Daimler, is also gearing up to reveal some of its vehicles in Geneva such as special editions of the SL, SLC, and Smart, but they also plan to bring some of the AMG performance models.
