Thanks to the spy shots we have here it seems that the Mercedes-Benz’s GLC Coupe is just about to arrive with a complete AMG treatment. This nice-looking and sleek coupe-like SUV is already available in a GLC43 flavor, but as of now, it seems that it will also be offered as a GLC63 Coupe with signature AMG elements such as the protruding grille, aggressive aero kit, quad exhaust tips, and upgraded wheel and brake package.
Since this one has a whole lot less camo than we are used to new prototypes having on it seems that we can expect it to arrive very soon, maybe as early as later this year. It is supposed to debut with the GLC63 prototype which was also caught by spy cameras. Both of these vehicles will come with that familiar twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 from AMG, which will fit just nicely especially when you take into consideration that the GLC’s MHA platform, which is related to the MRA platform found in the latest C-Class and E-Class models, offers a lot more freedom when powerful units are considered. Both the GLC63 and GLC63 S options will be capable of delivering around 469 and 503 HP respectively and be combined with the 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system which should be offered as a standard on both versions.
In terms of competition for the GLC63 Coupe, well, there actually isn’t many of those that could stand shoulder to shoulder with it. Those who wish for something similar to this model might try the Porsche Macan Turbo as well as the tamer BMW X4 M40i, but somehow we believe that it just isn’t going to cut it. All of these come from the same country and are made by toughest German engineering standards, but somehow AMG and Mercedes manage to crawl under your skin faster than any other vehicle and manufacturer out there. We believe that this will be the case with the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 Coupe as well.
