Last year the A-Class received a facelift, but now the German company switches their focus to the new generation, which should go on sale at the end of 2017 or at the beginning of 2018. The A-Class has been spotted on the Nurburgring and it did have heavy camouflage, which makes it difficult to analyze it, but let’s give it a shot.

The LED headlights will be smoother, which will change the look of the front end. It is also expected that the new model will be longer and wider, which means the passengers will feel more comfortable during longer rides due to extra space in the cabin. Furthermore, the car will come with increased cargo capacity, which is another significant improvement.

An all-digital instrument cluster will be offered as an option, so the people who don’t want analog dials can opt for this solution. However, the 2018 model will use the second iteration of company’s Modular Front Architecture. The rumor has it that the company will use a large amount of aluminum, but we don’t know that yet. The prototype on the Nurburgring was equipped with front-mounted sensors and cameras, implying numerous safety and driver-assistance features.

It is likely that we will see a turbocharged V3 and V4 engines under the hood. Also, a plug-in hybrid is also probable. According to the rumors, the new model will be called A40 and it is expected to produce around 300 hp, thus filling the gap between regular A-Class models and A45, which is supposed to go on sale at the end of 2018 or at the beginning of 2019.
