The 2018 Mazda CX-5 has been one of the most anticipated cars this year, and the Japanese automaker plans to introduce a seven-seater version by the end of this year. The photo you can see here was taken by a Japanese Twitter user, and this camouflaged car could be the seven-seater of the popular CX-5. It is important for Mazda to produce this vehicle in order to compete against bitter rivals such as the Nissan X-Trail and the new Honda CR-V.
According to the rumors, this new model could be named the Mazda CX-6 considering that it will be between the CX-5 and the CX-9 which is not on sale in Japan. When it comes to the dimensions of the new model, it is expected to be around 4,690mm long, 1,840mm wide and 1,695mm tall.
The engines that are used to power the five-seat CX-5 will be utilized for the new seven-seat version without any changes. Just to remind you, there is a 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D turbodiesel unit, but Mazda also offers a newer 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G petrol powerplant. Both of these engines are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission that is going to send power to the front wheels or all four wheels. There is also a possibility that a small 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G will also be included.
