The looks that 2018 Mazda 6 will offer certainly need a boost in the underhood segment so it could parry its sporty driving aspirations. This info was delivered just recently by the company prior to the unveiling of the new mid-size sedan that is scheduled for 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
It is expected for the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to be added here. This is the powerplant from CX-9 crossover where it pumps out 250 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque when sipping premium fuel. If you feed it with regular unleaded, this unit will push 227 hp. It is not clear what will be the power figures it will offer in new 6. In case of CX-9, we are getting a six-speed auto transmission, but we don’t have any info if this will be the choice for the sedan.
When it comes to added features, Japanese carmaker announced the adaptive cruise control that can stop and later on start your car in traffic. It is clear that they are joining other companies that are developing autonomous driving capabilities. Another interesting upgrade for this model is the surround-view camera system allowing you always to have a clear view of your surroundings.
Upgrades to the interior are also expected and Japanese Sen wood in combination with synthetic suede that should push the overall quality and offer more premium feel. From only one image that Mazda released we can see that one of the options will be air conditioned seats.
Looking at the photo, we could notice carried-over infotainment display, but few things that were lacking might be added now. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be hopefully included in this mid-size sedan. We could hear that they are working on this so it might be finally incorporated.
There are still many things that are missing regarding the 2018 Mazda 6, and hopefully, more details will be delivered at the Los Angeles Auto Show that starts soon.
