As we all know the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is well on its road to production and soon enough it will hit the street. In the meantime, we stumbled upon a set of great photos where one car enthusiasts managed to capture numerous Wranglers out and about. These vehicles are prototypes, and according to our source, these pictures were taken in Colorado.
It is easy to spot a handful of changes applied to the exterior of this SUV and to be honest we liked it. To be fair, these prototypes were camouflaged, so it’s best that you see it for yourself. Another interesting thing about these shots is that we spotted the facelifted Cherokee standing alongside these Wranglers. Cherokee standing in the same line as the upcoming Wrangler? Quite interesting if you ask us.
As we’ve said, the design on the upcoming Wrangler is evolutionary! Why? Well, besides keeping that trademark Wrangler look the new looks incorporated quite a few new discreet styling changes. For example, the front fender vents are new, door handles have been modified, and there is a new prominent line stretching on the doors of the vehicle. Prototypes also show that engineers changed the hood and bumpers, the hood is pretty flat while the bumpers got a little bit larger. Of course, we can’t exclude the new folding windscreen.
Some would say that changes on the outside aren’t so significant and we have to agree that the company didn’t put much effort into it. Especially if you compare it to the cabin. The interior is more stylish and now has a more premium look to it. We’ve found out that there will be a platter of new options available on the list. Some of them include AC, Alpine audio system, leather seats, etc. We are also in store for a completely reworked and modern infotainment system that will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The official unveil of the 2018 Wrangler is scheduled for November, and the company is expected to offer this model with three different engine versions. These options should consist of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, a 3.6-liter V6, and a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel. When it comes to the gearbox, these will most likely either be connected to a six-speed manual or an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission.
Even though the Wrangler never held the title of a fuel-efficient car the new model should at least be more eco-friendly than its predecessors. The company decided to utilize a number of aluminum components, so there have been some weight cuts. However, we still have no official word about precise stats and figures.
