We have already seen the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler on numerous occasions, but the model has been taken for some off-road actions, and these three videos clearly show that. The short clips that we have here are a courtesy of JL Wrangler Forums user Bullring who recorded them at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Michigan.
These sand dunes are not a difficult challenge for the Wrangler, but it is what we got. Based on the way the vehicle reacts to the bumps we can conclude that Jeep is going to use a soft suspension. However, the development is still underway, and it is hard for us to draw any conclusions about the production version.
In the video below, you can see the 2018 Jeep Wrangler racing over the sand and bouncing through water puddles. We can clearly see the steeper rake of the windshield the new generation brings to the table. In the last video, we can see the model leaving the site, but it does a little slide towards the end of the clip.
The American carmaker wants to keep the off-road feel to the vehicle and make it more efficient. They added the aluminum for the doors and hood to shed as much weight as possible, whereas under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is going to join the already existing V6 unit.
We can see that the Wrangler is going to have a colorful dash inside. An advanced infotainment is expected to sit on top of the center stack while customers will be able to choose between a hard top with removable panels, a soft top, and a possible power-sliding hard top.
According to the FCA boss Sergio Marchionne, we might see the Wrangler at the Los Angeles Auto Show which starts on December 1. The assembly of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler should commence in November. Follow us for more details.
