The QX Sport Inspiration concept was revealed last year at the Paris Motor Show and only a couple of months ago in Detroit, Infiniti showed its QX50 Concept, which means that now we have a clearer image of what the next-generation model is going to look like.
The new mid-range crossover has been spotted testing on the road, and it appears that the company doesn’t waste any time when it comes to producing the 2018 Infiniti QX50. This prototype is tested on the streets of San Francisco, it is camouflaged, and it is hard to tell what lies beneath those covers, but it is definitely an Infiniti.
This can be concluded by looking at the front grille design, whereas the car, in general, has a lot of similarities to the concept. For example, there are wheels and the “snake’s head” hood despite the fact that the sculpted shoulder line bends towards the rear.
However, not everything will be taken from the concept car, and the front bumper of this production ready version seems heavier, bulkier and more muscular. In addition, the mirrors are larger, and the door handles have been added, which was expected to happen. Japanese manufacturer wanted to make sure that some aspects of this prototype remain well-hidden and because of that, we cannot talk about the C-Pillar design and the vents at the outer corners of the bumpers.
Be that as it may, this car bears a striking resemblance to the one that was on the podium in Detroit. So far, we can say that the next-generation Infiniti will be much different than the model introduced in 2013 and it is going to be a tough competitor to Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Mercedes GLC and BMW X3.
