2018 Honda Civic Type R Prototype has almost become a production model. It will join the New Honda Civic hatchback at Paris Auto Show and it will also arrive in the USA where the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback has already been on sale.
Although this model is called Prototype, the production version of the car will be almost the same, with just one difference. That difference is a cool brushed titanium-like finish of the body.
The new Honda Civic Type R will have the same aggressive look just like the current model, which has never reached North American coast. It will contain bloated and vented front fenders and a diffuser. Moreover, this car will have a large rear wing as well as the breathing ducts on the bumper.
In addition to that, the car will be equipped with some new components such as a unique exhaust setup with three pipes in the center and intake hood scoop.
The 2018 Civic Type R will come with the 2.0-liter V4 turbocharged VTEC engine, rated at 306hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, just like the current model. However, according to some sources, the power figures will be improved in order to match Ford Focus RS.
It is expected that new Honda will come with the six-speed manual and that the car will be with front-wheel-drive.
When the Paris Auto Show starts, we will know more about this car. For now, it is estimated that it will appear in the USA either at SEMA in Las Vegas or at the Los Angeles Auto show later this year.
