We are taking you back to 1967 when the all-American team consisting of Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt won at Le Mans in a Ford GT40 Mark IV. Both drivers became legends afterward, and the GT40 became an iconic vehicle which inspired the Ford GT which is on the market today. In order to pay tribute to the famous win which happened exactly 50 years ago, Ford has produced the 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition, which is going to be introduced at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The limited edition model will come with glossy Race Red paint and white stripes, but we will also see the same No.1 number which was on the racing car back in 1967. The new model will also be equipped with a carbon package, red brake calipers, silver mirror caps and it will sit on silver 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.
When it comes to the interior, the new Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition will sport carbon fiber seats trimmed with leather and red accent stitching. The engineers also decided to add red steering wheel stitching and seat belt webbing, whereas the paddle shifters are done in gray color. To make the cabin look even more beautiful, Ford made air vents, center console and door sills from matte carbon fiber. This model will be rare, which is implied by a serialized identification.
Ford debuted the ’66 edition of the GT last year, and now, we have a chance to see the famous ’67 Heritage Edition. The former is black and silver, and it honored the GT40 Mark II which Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren drove when they won at Le Mans. There is a high possibility that Blue Oval will continue to make special editions in the next two years to honor the GT40’s wins in 1968 and 1969 at Le Mans race.
