The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will be officially presented at the 2016 LA Auto Show in November. Although it hasn’t been officially introduced, numerous prototypes and versions of the ZR2 have been seen roaming in the wilderness.
We still aren’t sure whether the new vehicle will come only with gasoline engine option or there will be a diesel as well. It appears that diesel-powered truck will see the light of the day as it has been seen in the Rocky Mountains.
Engine
So far, we know that a 3.6-liter gasoline V6 engine will be installed in the vehicle, whereas the car will use an 8-speed automatic gearbox. As for the diesel version, we predict a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel I4 Duramax that produces 369 lb-ft of torque. All the customers would be satisfied if Chevrolet decided to cover both options, instead of one.
Price
The company hasn’t announced the pricing details yet, but we can compare it to some other models. The starting price of the AWD 2016 Colorado Z71, which is equipped with a V6 unit, is around $36,000. On the other hand, the model with a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel costs about $40,000, so we can conclude that the diesel variant of the new ZR2 will be more expensive.
2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is priced at about $45,000. In order to compete with this bitter rival, the price of the fully-equipped ZR2 diesel will probably not exceed $50,000.
The gasoline variant is expected to come out this year, whereas the diesel will be labeled as 2018MY.
