3Transmission is a downside
Although both Z06 and the CTS-V have the same engine, the eight-speed transmissions differ considerably, and it is much better in the Corvette. Why? For some reason, the CTS-V’s eight-speed is bolted right to the back of the engine whereas the Z06’s gearbox is a transaxle setup and this changes everything. Choosing different driving modes on the Cadillac, such as Track, Sport or Touring does change the shift patterns, but when you are driving a car, you won’t even notice it.
It will take you a while to figure out the way transmission works, and the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters are well-placed, but their response is delayed. However, over time, you will figure it out.
