F97 is the new unofficial name of the new car being designed by BMW. Another crossover in the BMW gamma is about to be presented. After the existing two models, BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M, the German company decided to widen its M palette. The fresh new vehicle will be BMW X3 M, and it will be introduced to the market 2018 year model. According to our sources, it will be flatter on the front, but it will have a more powerful look than the regular version. There will be a line from the front wheel arch the door handles to the lights in the back. As for the lights, the ones in the front section of the car will have a new set of LED units. The tail lights will be full LED giving them prestigious looks.
Of course, being an M variation, the new X3 will be looking powerful and muscular from the outside. This includes aggressive fascia on the front with large air inlets. Wider fenders, lower stance, and flared wheel arches are mandatory for an M-badged BMW. As for the back segment, the rear-end is going to have those quad tailpipes known for M versions. Sporty, the all-new bumper is not in question.
The model itself will be based on the 2017 X3 that is about to be presented. If we compare it to the current version, 2017 vehicle will be lighter for almost 100 kilograms. This as a result of the new, famous by BMW, rear-wheel drive platform that is utilized here. This new chassis employs more modern and lighter materials, so it contributes to the weight reduction. This midsize SUV will have its competition, and it will be a strong one. Audi RS Q5 and Mercedes GLC 55 AMG are waiting just around the corner.
Not only that, but the BMW is worried about the Mercedes AMG GLC 63 that is announced. The thing is that the Mercedes contender will be able to deliver 500 HP to all four wheels. Having all of this in mind, the new, 2018 BMW X3 M will come with the S55 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine. This one has already been spotted in the company’s models M3 and M4. It is supposed to deliver somewhere between 450 and 500 horsepower.
