The BMW enthusiasts wait no more because the more extreme and faster BMW sedan vehicle is just around the corner. Yes, you all know what we are talking about! It’s the new 2018 BMW M3 CS. What we have prepared for you today is the picture gallery that shows a very lightly camouflaged M3 testing at Nürburgring, but hidden in all the right places that suggest it is a new M3 CS model.
These spy shots reveal that the BMW is actually making use of those multiple “CS” trademarks filings (from “M1 CS” through to “M8 CS”) and it seems that this is our second CS model in the lineup. The first one, if you recall, was the M4 CS that was unveiled in all its glory at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show this April. Some reports state that the German carmaker is in haste to get these out on the road, so according to them we should not only expect the M3 CS to be out soon but the M2 CS as well, and they will probably be introduced by next spring.
Those of you who do not know the CS badge designed at the BMW is the one that should close the gap between the BMW M’s Competition Package vehicles and those ultra-exclusive GTS versions. The latest GTS model we saw was the 2016’s M4 GTS that was limited to only 700 units for the entire world. That speaks miles about its exclusivity don’t you think? But fear not because the CS line is nothing less exclusive and it will also be limited since the company only made around 3.000 M4 CS coupes, and thanks to that, we expect a similar number of M3 CS sedans.
The M3 and M4 models have, as you are aware, a very close relationship which is why we believe that the both CS variants will also be similar in specifications as well. What that translates into is the fact that the M3 CS will be equipped with a 3.0 L twin-turbocharged straight 6 unit capable of delivering 454 HP, and it will most definitely be attached to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This setup should allow the M3 CS to reach 0-60 MPH in less than 4.0 seconds and top out at speeds nearing 175 MPH.
Besides the engine, it seems, at least from these spy shots, that the M3 CS will adopt a lot more from the M4 CS like its carbon fiber hood, more aggressive ventilation openings, and unique rear spoiler. Since this is, as we already mentioned, a hardcore and extreme version of the M3 expect a lot of lightweight materials all around as well as lighter elements in the cockpit. One more thing that is important to note is the fact that this might very easily be the final iteration of the current F80-series M3. You are all probably aware by now that the company is nearing a launch of the totally new generation of its 3 Series which will have its own sporty variant.
