There are some new spy shots of the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante and its prototype has been seen with the light covers testing in Sweden in the snowy weather. There is some camouflage on the rear fenders and the trunk lid and these covers are the same color as the body, as they are supposed to hide the new parts that will differentiate a convertible from a coupe version.
The topless model means that the C-pillar will be axed and different rear end because it has to accommodate the folded fabric roof. Moreover, the AeroBlade on the Aston Martin DB11 Volante will be redesigned since there is a camouflage over the active rear spoiler. What we also expect to see is a pair of intakes integrated into the car’s wider hips. The aero aids can be found at the foot of the C-pillar on the coupe variant, and these changes were necessary in order to keep the rear end attractive on the convertible.
The front end will see some minor changes, as the hood’s gills will be slightly different on the convertible than those on the coupe. Some believe that this is because the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine from the Mercedes-AMG sits under the hood of the DB11 Volante prototype, but it is hard to tell the real reason.
It is possible that Aston Martin will modify the hood so that a difference can be made between the V8 powered models and the V12 ones. However, it is too early to talk about these small changes. The 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante will be introduced in spring 2018, so we expect to see this model without covers soon. The new vehicle might come to 2018 Geneva next year, while for this year, the Vanquish S Volante will be presented to the public in Switzerland.
