Advertised as the SUV that has it all for those who ask for it, Toyota updated its Sequoia for the 2017 model year and set the base price of $45,460. If you decide to buy one of these, have in mind that you can get it in three trims SR5, Limited, and Platinum.
The SR5 trim comes with standard equipment, which consists of a pretty long list of features and offers tri-zone climate control, power tilt-slide moonroof, 8-way power driver’s seat, multifunction tilt/telescoping steering wheel, towing package, fog lamps, roof rack, running boards, and others. As we already said not a small list but if you add some more cash and opt for the Sequoia Limited version you will extend that list with front and rear sonar parking assist, a power rear liftgate with sliding window, 10-way power adjustable driver’s and 4-way power front passenger’s seat (both heated, too). Furthermore second- and third-row come with retractable sunshades, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 20-inch alloy wheels. So far Toyota is really giving it all, and they are doing it with elegance.
Third trim which is range-topping for this vehicle is the Sequoia Platinum Edition which adds upon these previous two in the form of Dynamic Laser Cruise Control, a Blue-Ray rear seat entertainment system with a 9 inch LCD screen, separate rear seat audio, dual wireless headphones. You can also find 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, power seat memory package, heated seats for all passengers, load leveling air suspension, and Adaptive Variable Suspension, an electronic damper control system with driver-selectable settings for Comfort, Normal, and Sport.
Depending on the trim you chose, and it will be hard because they all offer so much, you might also get the 6.1-inch touchscreen display, SiriusXM satellite radio, subscription-free Entune App Suite, Entune Premium Audio with 14 speakers, voice-activated touchscreen, rearview camera and much much, more tech bits and pieces. The 2017 Sequoia is also proud for its safety features that comes in the form of Toyota’s Star Safety System that besides the always present ABS and VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) include Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Traction Control, and Smart Stop Technology brake override. For those that choose 4WD models, Toyota also brings an A-TRAC (Active-Traction Control) that has substituted the previous models (non-active) TRAC AWD.
The driving force under the hood of this magnificently equipped SUV is nothing less impressive. It draws its power from the 5.7 L i-FORCE V8 engine with 381 HP (386 PS) and 401 lb-ft (544 Nm) of torque. The feisty V8 has an incredible ability to offer as much as 90% of torque from the minimum of 2.200 RPM and pull up to 7,300 lbs (3,311 kg) depending what trim you have chosen.
