Toyota Mirai and Honda Clarity are quite similar vehicles, and it is really hard to pick one over another. If one has any doubts whether to purchase the Mirai or Clarity, they would see how difficult that choice actually is, but in this article, we will make a comparison between these two cars and try to help you decide.
The design is clearly different, but some people like the Mirai better, while some prefer the Clarity, so we will not focus on styling. However, Clarity has 50 miles of driving range more than Toyota Mirai, and although that is not a substantial difference, it is still something to think about.
Price
These two vehicles are similar when it comes to size, performance and price. For example, the total output of the 2017 Toyota Mirai is 151 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, whereas the 2017 Honda Clarity produces 174 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. Speaking of price, the Mirai and Clarity cost $58,365 and $60,000 respectively, which, again, is not a significant difference as you can see.
The Clarity has enough room for five passengers, while the Mirai is built for four people, but what is better depends on the buyer’s needs. The total driving range of the Clarity is 366 miles compared to 312 miles of the Mirai.
The director of Olathe Toyota Parts Center Tom Blackman spoke of these two vehicles. He said: “I don’t think the similarity of the specs for the Mirai and the Clarity Fuel Cell is coincidental. The nature of fuel cell technology is that – for now at least – weight and power output are going to be roughly the same from one car to the next, at least if they’re priced similarly.”
According to the Honda Part Online director Angel Vigil, the Clarity is better because: “the greater range of the Clarity Fuel Cell is significant, as every mile counts in an environment where hydrogen refueling stations are still being built.”
