The 2017 RAM 1500 is one of the best-selling trucks and is quite familiar to a broader pickup audience, but many will be surprised by its two special editions. 2016 L.A. Auto Show will be the ideal spot for Ignition Orange Sport and Rebel Mojave Sand to be presented. These two trucks are both based on RAM 1500 but due to heavy tuning will look very different than the vehicles they are based on. Above mentioned auto show is just a few days away and many of the world’s automakers are already previewing their products. One of those is RAM, and they have given us computer renderings of the models that will be presented in L.A.
The first edition is Ignition Orange Sport. This model features bright orange color with black stripes down its hood. Many of us have already heard about this truck because RAM had Ignition Orange Sport in its offer last year. The difference between last years model and this one lies in more expressed ‘Copperhead’ orange that found its way into the interior and onto alloy wheels. Only 1500 pieces of this particular edition will be made, and all of them will feature 5.7-liter V8 engine installed onto the Crew Cab body. Price will be in the region of $45,000.
RAM 1500 Mojave Sand has the same exterior design with only and most obvious difference being a lack of flashy orange paint job. Instead, this truck is painted in, as its name suggests, the shade of Mojave desert sand while the interior features Light Slate Gray stitching on seats and doors and black rubber mats. To spice it up the interior has ‘Rebel’ written on the seats, black anodized accents all around and standard black seatbelts. This edition has its price tag little above the 2017 RAM 1500 Rebel model with $595 more needed for two-wheel drive and $2,100 more for four-wheel drive. Price for the regular version of Rebel starts at $46,910. Similarly to the previous model only 1500 pieces will be made.
Both Orange Ignition Sport and Rebel Mojave Sand are already available for a pre-order while for the presentation you will have to wait few more days. For those that are impatient, RAM stated that the company would start with deliveries of this two special editions by the start of December.
In the end, it is worth mentioning, for those who love current RAM 1500, that this version of 1500 will exist until the end of the decade despite the fact that the redesigned model will be available before the end of 2019. Both generations will coexist for more than one year before new gen takes completely over.
