In a segment that is not over-packed, every new model is more than welcomed. Nissan took this opportunity that is presented to car manufacturers all over the world and introduced its new hybrid SUV. The model in question is 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid. With competition counting only a couple of models, most notably being Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, Rogue came in a right moment. Subaru Crosstrek is being discontinued for 2017, so new Rogue will really come as a refreshment.

When it comes to design, the Rogue Hybrid looks exactly the same as the regular version. This is nothing new as many car manufacturers don’t change design especially for hybrid versions of their models. 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid has the same sharp lines, chromed front grille, same head, and taillights. Basically, the only thing that makes the difference is the blue hybrid badge on the back of the SUV. Main changes and upgrades can be found under the hood which is expected, but also there are notable differences in the interior.

Cabin changes come from the fact that hybrid version of the Rogue needs more space to store the battery pack. That’s why this model doesn’t come with an option of the third row. Despite the fact that battery consumes space this does not affect the overall size of the Rogue’s cargo area. Hybrid version only lacks Nissan’s Divide ‘N Hide system which is a system that deals with cargo organization. On the other side lot’s of things stays the same as they are on the regular version. These include; same steering wheel shaped like letter D, same materials, and colors available and a completely restyled Nissan’s dashboard. As hybrid models come only in higher SV and SL trims new Rogue Hybrid will be offered with heated premium fabric and leather seats. From standard equipment, it will feature seats adjustable in six ways, a sound system of latest generation, dual-zone climate control, NissanConnect system and smart key capability that has remote start option.

Exterior and interior wise 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid looks almost the same as its non-hybrid counterpart. The great part about so many similarities between them is that it transfers good driving characteristics. Green version acts almost as its petrol sibling, and we would dare to say, even better. This was the intention that Nissan had when started creating a Hybrid, and they succeeded completely.

2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is equipped with a 30 kW electric motor and 2.0-liter petrol engine. It features intelligent dual-clutch system and 176 hp which is more than 170 hp that are available from the standard model. Power from its motors is transferred to wheels trough Nissan’s Xtronic transmission that has Eco and Sport modes that both include start/stop feature. With the car being very quiet while running using only electric motor it returns the real pleasure of driving. Noise is a little boosted in the non-hybrid model when the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is pushed harder. Compared to this, the hybrid version is far more silent.

As we mentioned before in a segment with little competition, 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid will be a real refreshment. Together with its remarkable design and acceptable interior and engine options, solid battery range, and EPA mileage, comes a price which is more than fair. The price tag of $29,000 or possibly even less makes Rogue Hybrid a very attractive option on the SUV market.
