The 2017 Nissan Micra is now, as you may or may not know, slightly bigger, more mature and overall better than its predecessor and represents Nissan’s calling card in the subcompact hatchback segment. Thankfully, Japanese company decided to announce its pricing just before the start of pre-orders and its under £12k for the base model Visia.
Some of you who were interested in the predecessor or even owned one will probably ask “Wait, wasn’t the 2016 Micra way cheaper than that?”. Well, to be honest, yes it was, but you need to have in mind that the new one beats the predecessor in more than one way which ultimately leads to a price increase of £4.000. It will also come with its new engines right at the launch which implies the 0.9 L three-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5-liter turbo diesel and each of those are capable of developing 90 HP. In the later stages, we can expect a 1.0 L naturally aspirated three-cylinder to join the range with 73 HP on a push of a gas pedal. But as you know the Dacia Sandero is also available with those same engine options and outputs, and reason is simple. Dacia is owned by Renault, and you all know just how much the French automaker loves to share with Nissan. But regardless of that, like it or not, the 0.9 TCe, 1.5 dCi, and 1.0 SCe are very good engines that are built to save petrol and money.
2017 Nissan Micra Price
The UK market will have an honor of hosting Nissan Micra in five trim levels – Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta, and Tekna which price will start from £17.295. Probably the most popular and beloved will be, at least according to the automaker, the Acenta IG-T 90 which is coincidentally in the middle with a price tag of £14.995. The 2017 Nissan Micra will be built at the Renault plant in Flins, France and it is expected to hit the dealerships in March 2017. Around that date, we will probably get prices in euros for the rest of Europe together with full information about trim levels.
The new Micra is good, moreover very good but it has to be aware that it has a constant rivalry which is almost as good. The competition in mind comes from Ford and its recently presented 2017 Ford Fiesta that has a price that seriously threatens to overshadow that of the Micra by a noticeable margin.
