The Mercedes S-Class was an astonishing car when it was introduced three years ago. The company is now ready to move the bar higher with their new 2017 model, which is expected to come with a few design differences and new engine options.
Engine changes
It is confirmed that the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will get the set of four new engine options. The most powerful engine is the 4.0-liter V8 which will come as a replacement to the 4.7-liter V8 unit. The new engine produces 470 bhp and 700 Nm of torque, and it made its debut in the Mercedes-AMG GT.
Furthermore, Mercedes will add a 3.0-liter inline V6 unit rated at 408bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Also, there will be a new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline V4 that delivers 134 bhp and it is the smallest petrol engine. In addition, the company will add a 3.0-liter inline V6 turbo-diesel power plant good for 309bhp and 650 Nm of torque.
The electrical system will be updated to 48 volts so that the new engines can be inserted. The new electrical system will provide more power to air-conditioning, starter-cum-generator and water pump.
Exterior and Interior Modifications
The new 2017 S-Class will have modified bumpers, together with the redesigned front and rear lights. The cabin will also be overhauled and it will feature latest technologies and additional features, but it is yet to be confirmed.
The chassis of the new car takes the edge of the lesser heat expansion rate of steel in order to reduce friction. The engine pistons will be lightweight which is implied by the use of steel. This also means that the pistons will be stronger than aluminum.
The company hasn’t announced the price and release date for the 2017 S-Class. Follow us for more details.
