Hyundai’s 2017 i20 model has received mild modifications for the Indian market, and from now on, people will be able to buy it in a new Marina Blue color alongside two new dial-tone exterior options such as Passion Red and Polar White. Both of these options will be available with a black roof, whereas in the cabin the dual-tone version will come with all-black color to contrast orange details.
However, you can purchase the dual-tone version in Asta trim at the price of Rs 7.24 lakh. Some new technologies in the refreshed Hyundai i20 include the 7.0-inch touchscreen AVN system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity.
What Asta trim will not offer is a push button start, alloy wheels, rear washer and wiper and automatic up/down function for the driver window. However, this version of i20 will still be offered with 16-inch wheels.
Features such as a reverse camera, tilt and telescopic adjust for the steering and auto climate control will no longer be available on the Sportz model. Meanwhile, South Korean carmaker added another version that will sit below the Magna variant, and that is called the Magna Executive. The standard Hyundai i20 Magna will only be offered with an automatic transmission whereas the new Executive is not going to have keyless entry, controls on the steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity for the audio system and rear parcel tray.
The engine options will remain the same which means that we can expect the 1.2 Kappa dual VTVT petrol in combination with a five-speed manual gearbox followed by a 1.4-liter dual VTVT petrol mated to a four-speed auto. Last but not least is a 1.4-liter U2 CRDi diesel unit paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
The Hyundai i20 entered the Indian market two years ago and ever since then, it has been in the top 10 sales list. It has always drawn the attention of the buyers with its beautiful appearance, numerous cutting-edge technologies, and a premium cabin. Some of the rivals of the refreshed model are the Maruti Baleno, the VW Polo and the Honda Jazz.
At the bottom of the petrol-powered vehicles sits the i20 Era trim that costs Rs 536,624 ($8,326.16) whereas at the top of the line is the Magna with a four-speed automatic and a 1.4-liter MPi Dual VTVT powerplant priced at Rs 909,064 ($14,104.86). Speaking of diesel units, the base model is the i20 Era whereas the range-topper is Asta which are respectively priced at Rs 666,629 ($10,339.49) and Rs 907,235 ($14,070.28).
