The 2017 Honda Odyssey has been spotted once more. Honda is apparently running a series of tests, and they covered the car completely since they want it to reveal as little as possible. The Japanese automaker is reluctant to talk about this vehicle, but it will supposedly hit the market either at the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017. We don’t know too many details, but let’s see what we can guess or conclude from previous rumors and photos.
Honda Odyssey 2017 Design
For starters, Honda Pilot crossover has definitely served as an inspiration for this car and some of its parts might be carried over. For example, expect modified LED headlights and overhauled bumper. The bumper will also be lower, and it will give the Odyssey a more aggressive appearance. Jumping to the rear, Honda has done an excellent job in camouflaging the car, so we cannot even guess what changes it will bring.
The interior will most likely be spacious, and we are going to see some major upgrades. From the spy photos, we can conclude that most of the driver assistance options, which are missing from the ongoing Honda Odyssey, will be added. Moreover, similar materials that you can find in Acura will be offered within the range, which will definitely increase the starting price but also the overall quality.
2017 Honda Odyssey Engine
The 2017 Honda Odyssey will most likely be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 unit. The engine produces 248 hp on the current model, so we believe that this number will go north a little bit. This petrol engine will come with direct injection, and it is estimated that it will deliver about 280 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque just like in new Pilot.
In the Honda Pilot, the same 3.5-liter V6 engine is also used and it comes together with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. However we don’t know whether we will find this transmission in the 2017 Honda Odyssey, but it will definitely come with an FWD setup.
Another option which may be found across the range is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine, which improves fuel efficiency but does not lack power. This is just a rumor, though, but we hope that Honda will also offer this powerplant in the lineup.
Also, rumor has it that a hybrid version is also an option.
2017 Honda Odyssey Price and Release Date
It is presumed that the 2017 Honda Odyssey will hit the market by the end of the year or at the beginning of 2017. An AWD might be offered within the range as optional, but it has yet to be confirmed. The starting price of the new vehicle will probably be $30,000 for the base FWD trim. However, if the AWD comes as an option, expect it to go from around $32,000.
