In South Africa, Honda BR-V has the edge over Ford EcoSport and Renault Capture, considering that this crossover costs from R238 900 to R288 300 (from around $17,300 to $20,860). It beats the rivals by R10 000 ($724).
First of all, BR-V has the same platform and seating arrangement as not so popular Mobilio MPV, but it will not replace it and the MPV will stay on the South African Market. In Comparison to the HR-V, the BR-V is longer but narrower. Furthermore, it doesn’t look as sporty as its sibling and the 16-inch wheels are small for an SUV. In general, the BR-V looks good with its spacious interior.
Seats and Trunk
Let’s start with the interior. If you want to access third-row seats, there is no pull and slide function like on the other vehicles. It is not complicated, though, as you need to fold and drop down one of the seats in the middle row. In addition, the third-row seats are low, which may not be too comfortable for an adult. However, you can slide the middle seats forward to create extra space. These middle seats can be reclined, so if you want to rest, it is a good idea to sit there.
Honda claims a 223-liter capacity when all seven seats are in place, but if you descend the third row you will get the 691-liter trunk. The downside of the vehicle is that you cannot tow anything with it.

Features
The entry-level Trend trim comes with aircon and a four-speaker audio system together with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. In addition to that, you get remote central locking and electric windows.
The middle-range Comfort version is equipped with 16-inch alloys, electric mirrors, and automatic climate control with rear ventilation in addition to the features from the base-trim. Furthermore, sliding second-row seats, a two year/30 000 km service plan and height-adjustable driver’s seat are additional options you get if you opt for this trim.
The top-shelf Elegance will also contain a steering wheel and seats bound in leather. One will be able to start a car with a button instead of using keys. All three trims have dual front airbags and ABS brakes.
Engine
Honda offers one engine option and all trims come with an FWD. A normally-aspirated 1.5-liter single overhead cam petrol engine that produces 8kW and 145Nm is inserted into the BR-V. The car uses CVT or six-speed manual transmission.
The engine operates well on smooth roads and highways, but it has tiny issues when the car is going uphill.
Overall, the BR-V is comfortable and for decent price, you can get an amazing SUV.
