The British automaker has officially announced pricing for the 2017 Aston Martin Vanquish S model for the Australian market, and the first units will be delivered in April. The starting price of the new supercar is $489,950 without the on-road costs, which means that the new model is about $4,000 more expensive than its predecessor, while it is almost $13,000 cheaper than the current Vanquish Carbon Edition.
The new Vanquish S will bring the updated variant of the 5.9-liter V12 engine that delivers 444 kW of power compared to 424 kW the unit in the standard car produces. An interesting fact about this engine is that Aston Martin refers to it as a 6.0-liter. This is the same powerplant that can be found under the hoods of the limited-edition Vanquish Zagato coupe and Volante twins.
The company made some changes to the eight-speed automatic to make it quicker and more refined at lower speeds. Meanwhile, for a more aggressive appearance, a new carbon-fiber aero package is used, but the car still looks similar to the previous Vanquish S. However, this vehicle sports new quad exhaust outlets located in a new carbon-fiber rear diffuser.
Because of this engine and transmission enhancements, the 2017 Vanquish S can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the regular Vanquish. The interesting thing is that the top speed remains the same, and it is 201 mph or 323 km/h. This car needs 13.1 liters per 100 kilometers on the European combined cycle, but if you have enough money to buy this vehicle, the fuel consumption is not something you need to worry about.
In the cabin, new carbon-fiber trim elements can be found, and the center console receives a gorgeous Satin Chopped Carbon-Fiber fascia panel, whereas the new leather upholstery options are available. If you love to drive your car with the wind in your hair, Aston Martin will offer a drop-top Volante in Australia, but the price tag of the convertible has yet to be confirmed.
