The 2017 Aston Martin DB11 is a new car produced by the British company, and it appears that it is miles ahead of the old but terrific DB9. Some of the slogans the company used to describe the new vehicle are “The Aston Martin you’ve been waiting for” and “A design evolution.”
The new model will be different than some of the old version. The design will be futuristic, and this is a significant step forward for this automaker. Before we start analyzing the DB11, you need to know that Daimler AG owns 5 percent of Aston Martin. This is important because the German giant will be the one to donate a twin-turbo V8 for the base trim and MY 2018 Vantage. This engine is developed by AMG department, and besides that, some of the switchgear for DB11 is also provided by Daimler AG.
Attractive Exterior
The exterior design is attractive, and the 2017 Aston Martin DB11 is more than just a transportation vehicle. The front end comes with the slim LED headlights and minimalist front grille, but that front-hinging clamshell hood really adds to aggressiveness and overall menacing look. The curb weight of the new model is 3,902 pounds, and everything is beautifully packed in DB11. Total length and width of the vehicle are 187 and 81 inches respectively, whereas new model will come with the 111-inch wheelbase.
The 2017 Aston Martin DB11 sports 20-inch wheels on which you can find authentic Bridgestone S007 tires. There are also gills located slightly above the front wheels whereas the rear end is fabulous. First of all, you can see the traditional sloping decklid and the LED taillights that are connected with an AeroBlade virtual spoiler that gives it extraordinary looks.
Inside of the 2017 Aston Martin DB11
Honestly, we cannot decide whether the interior is better or we are getting more with the exterior. The 2017 DB11 has an exceptional cabin with leather decoration and brogue accents. In addition to this, you can also find Celestial perforation and Nexus quilting. What is a bit odd, but still beautiful, is a square-shaped steering wheel behind which we are getting two paddles for shifting gears.
A 12-inch screen dominates the instrument cluster, and the driver gets all the necessary information from it. Furthermore, there is a Mercedes-Benz eight-inch infotainment system which is positioned in the middle of the dashboard. The transmission buttons P, R, N and D can also be found in this DB11, just like in its predecessor.
The new Aston Martin comes with two front and two back seats, but there is not enough space in the second row for adults. However, the British carmaker inserted ISOFIX mounting points for those who plan to use this machine as a family car. The cargo capacity of the 2017 Aston Martin DB11 is 9.53 cubic feet which might not be enough for all your vacation luggage.
Equipment
Before we start talking about the most important part of the equipment in the 2017 Aston Martin DB11, we need to say that this car doesn’t have as many features as you might expect. It is still more than decently equipped and comes with adjustable TFT LCD instrument cluster that can be reconfigured according to his/her own liking. Central storage compartment brings power lid which can be opened with one press of a button allowing you to store your belongings.
The infotainment system cannot be controlled with a touchscreen which is a big surprise. Instead, the rotary knob from the Mercedes-Benz is featured in the new model, and it is something you wouldn’t expect on a vehicle this expensive. However, we do get a touchpad as an option.
The Bang & Olufsen developed the sound system for the 2017 Aston Martin DB11. Speaking of sound here’s a quote for you: ”We were adamant the Aston Martin DB11 should have an honest, genuine engine note, so what you hear comes purely from the intake and exhaust, not from speakers pumping synthesized sound into the cockpit.” Some of the features in the new model are parallel and bay park assistance, a 360-degree bird’s eye camera system and keyless entry.
Under the hood
The 2017 Aston Martin DB11 is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin turbo V12 that produces 600 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This is the most powerful engine in any of the production DB series cars so far. The acceleration is admirable, and it takes only 3.9 seconds to reach 62 mph, whereas the top speed is limited to 200 mph. If the power demand is low, the engine stops using six of its 12 cylinders and becomes an I6 saving fuel before you decide to unleash its full power.
The unit is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, and you can choose between three different drive modes – GT, Sport and Sport Plus that adjust various in-car systems. There is also a “quiet start” function, and the engine is not that loud when you start the car, but, we are not sure how quiet is that.
2017 Aston Martin DB11 Price
The starting price of the 2017 Aston Martin DB11 is $211,995. This is a completely new model, and the company has done an excellent job. When the DB9 was launched it was terrific at the beginning, but it struggled later against Bentley Continental GT and Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. The DB11 is one of a kind, and this supercar represents the peak of car industry nowadays.
