Spider-Man: The Animated Series aired on Fox for five seasons, but it was canceled in 1998. It contained 65 episodes in total, and it received high ratings. The series had a solid critical reception, and it ended with Spider-Man and the mystical Madame Web who traveled through dimensions trying to find Mary Jane Watson.
The Peter Parker and Mary Jane reunion was only implied but the sixth season has never been filmed due to a disagreement between Marvel and Fox. If the series continued, the fans would watch Spider-Man and Mary Jane going to Victorian England to save Mary Jane from Carnage who was Jack the Ripper at the same time.
