Group of men that were a part of research conducted at the University of Vermont’s Human Performance Laboratory was given to drink 12 ounces of tart cherry juice while the other group received placebo twice a day for eight days. After four days they did intense strength-training and results were gathered. Similar was repeated after two weeks, and the researchers came to a conclusion that the beverage based on cherry that was given reduced pain. The average loss in performance was about 22% for those that received a placebo while those that took tart cherries show only 4% drop.
