11Watercress reduces DNA damage
The mustard family plant, watercress has been found to help with wear and tear effects of training. This has been reported by the British Journal of Nutrition, and the research was conducted with two groups of healthy young men that were consuming three ounces per day for eight weeks. They participated in treadmill workout with a group of men that weren’t taking it, and it was noticed that there was a more DNA damage as a result of training for those that didn’t consume watercress. It is interesting to note that subjects that ate it only two hours prior to exercise also didn’t show any signs of DNA damage meaning that after one dose there will be a difference. This greenish addition to your salad is quite useful, and it can also be included in a smoothie similar to kale and spinach.
