Chris Adams is a legend in the ring, and he is responsible for creating an icon out of Steve Austin. However, outside the ring, Adams was leading a miserable life. He was involved with numerous substance abuse issues, and his wife and family left him because of the violence he frequently displayed.
In 2000, Adams was with his girlfriend Linda Kaphengst, and they were found overdosed once. Adams managed to recover, but his girlfriend passed away, and he was charged with manslaughter. He got shot by his best man and close friend Brent Parnell, who said that this was in self-defense and the court agreed with him, acquitting him of all charges.
