More often than not, the wrestlers change the scripts and they win the match instead of losing, or they hit their opponents for real for one reason or another. But we have to journey way back to the early-1920 to meet entrepreneur Stanislaus Zbyszko. He was a feared wrestler, and he was booked to defeat Ed “Strangler” Lewis in a championship match.

He dropped his title to Lewis in 1922. The Gold Dust Trio lacked good men to tackle Lewis, and they pushed former football star Wayne Munn, and this move was frowned upon behind the scenes. Munn was not talented, but he defeated Lewis and became the new champ who also beat Zbyszko. In 1925, Munn was supposed to defeat Zbyszko once again in Philly, but Zbyzsko was paid by Tony Stecher, and he pinned Munn with ease.

Tony Stecher was Joe Stecher’s brother, and later on, Zbyszko got paid to lose the title he won to Joe, but Trio had to cover up the loss, and they pretended that it didn’t happen so they paired up Lewis and Munn and Lewis won the match. But they couldn’t fool everyone, and Stecher’s fight was the true one and Trio could deal with the humiliation after that.
