Jones and his wife Gene met in college at the University of Arkansas, She was a former Miss Arkansas USA. Jones had to do something to charm her and even though he tried to win her a teddy bear he just couldn’t do it. Jones told the Dallas Morning News in 1989: “… so I went behind and bought her one.” Interestingly enough the couple met at a blind date during the state fair.
