In 2014, Jerry Jones said that there have only been three loses that actually made him cry. Even though it is hard for us to imagine Dallas franchise owner with tears in his eyes, let’s see what the three losses are.
The first one happened in the 1995 NFC Championship game when the Cowboys were playing the 49ers. The score was 38-28 for the team from San Francisco. However, to make matters worse, the Cowboys had three turnovers early in the game, and they were down 21-0, which was too much to catch up. When he was talking about the loses, Jones, said: “I knew we had the better team.”
The second loss came seven years after that in 2002 season opener when the Cowboys lost to the Huston Texans. “I was the leading proponent of getting Houston the team,” Jones said. “I wanted those fans to have their own team, even though I knew at that time half of them were Cowboys fans. To go down and get beat on opening night by an expansion team was absolutely a low point.”
Last but not least, we are taking you back to the 2007 divisional round in the playoffs when the Dallas Cowboys faced their rival NY Giants. In that seasons, the Cowboys were 13-3 and had the number one spot in the NFC. On the other hand, the Giants had a number five position as they had 10-6 score. Even though the Cowboys had a better year behind them, that meant nothing in the playoffs, and they were defeated 21-17. “That’s where I went to the place I used to go to when they would call and tell me that I had just lost all of my money on a dry hole,” Jones said.
