99. Why does Lightning Strike?

Source:youtube.com

Lightning strikes are a mystery even though we know a lot about them. The warm air rises and as it cools it forms a cloud. As the clouds expand, they are becoming thunderclouds, and they produce 100 million volts of electricity that strikes down in the form of lightning. But how does that happen?

The knowledge we have about electricity shows that lightning strikes shouldn’t really happen. The electrical field in a thunderstorm is smaller than the field you would need for a lightning bolt and by ten times! There are different theories, but none of these is 100% accurate.
